Community Outreach Coordinator

NOW HIRING:  COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR (full-time)

The House’s efforts to develop relationships in the community and execute well-organized and successful events ensure that the doors of the House remain open for families that need us today and well into the future. The community outreach coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and executing our cornerstone fundraising events. This individual is the lead on community relations efforts to build awareness in our community for support. The community outreach coordinator manages our social media platforms and partners with our public relations team to effectively execute the annual PR plan. This individual also assists with board of directors administrative tasks relating to this role. The community outreach coordinator represents the organization across all audiences – community members, donors, event participants, sponsors and guest families. We’re looking for an individual who has strong organization skills, outstanding attention to detail and is an effective communicator - among other skills - which will make for a great fit in this role.

WHAT DOES A COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR DO?

  • Serves as the primary point person for all of our fundraising and community relations events. From event planning to execution, this person is the lead employee for event attendees, sponsors, vendors and partners.
  • Community outreach efforts to build brand awareness in the community for financial, volunteer and in-kind support. Attend applicable networking and service group opportunities for community presence. Assist executive director in preparing for presentations and other engagements. 
  • Social media management – develop/create content and manage a social media schedule. 
  • Work with our public relations team to carry out annual PR plan and related initiatives.
  • Prepares board meeting reports for events and development chairpersons monthly. Attends board meetings and assists with presenting reports as needed.
  • This position reports to the executive director and provides support to the executive director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • At least 2 years of non-profit experience with emphasis on fundraising and community outreach or engagement strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively
  • High degree of attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy in work
  • Demonstrated adaptability and solution-orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure while demonstrating time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to handle many varied responsibilities on a daily basis

Night/Weekend Manager

The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan is seeking reliable night and weekend managers to relieve the Resident House Manager after hours, on weekends, and occasional holidays by request.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist guests/families with any and all house services
  • Check in/check out families
  • Answer phones and direct calls
  • Welcome and acquaint guests to the House and our services
  • Manage and support volunteers with assigned tasks
  • Monitor and facilitate house operations
  • Basic tidying and keeping common spaces clean
  • Execute emergency procedures and troubleshoot maintenance issues when necessary
  • Report matters of concern to the Executive Director, Resident House Manager, Community Outreach Coordinator, Guest Services Assistant, or on-call staff member as needed.

Qualifications, Preferred Skills and Requirements

  • MUST be vaccinated for COVID-19 as the House serves families with hospitalized pediatric patients 
  • Masks are required in common spaces throughout the House but not required in your private sleeping room/bathroom or while eating. 
  • Flexible, dependable, reliable, trustworthy and poised individual
  • Organized, prioritization and attention to detail
  • MUST maintain and work with confidential information
  • MUST have ability to work with families in crisis
  • MUST work with wide range of people and personalities
  • MUST have ability to maintain supportive and cheerful attitude
  • MUST have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-initiate and work independently
  • Multi-tasking team player
  • Experience in social science, hospitality and volunteer organizations is a PLUS

Hours

Weekend Manager Shifts: Friday 5:00 p.m. through Sunday 5:00 p.m.

Night Manager (as needed): single or multiple overnight shifts Sunday - Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.

Overnight shifts are permitted to sleep or do recreational activities between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. but must remain on the premises for guest emergencies until the end of the shift. 

ALCOHOL, MARIJUANA (including vape pens) & ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON PREMISES
